FORMER Highlanders hitman Knox Mutizwa is likely to be loaned out to Young Africans of Tanzania by his new South African Premiership side Bidvest Wits.

He left Highlanders early this month to join his new teammates at the Gavin Hunt coached and ambitious South Africa side for pre-season training.  It has, however emerged that Bidvets Wits, who have further bolstered their strikeforce with the acquisition of Zimbabwean veteran forward Cuthbert Malajila as well as Mogakolodi Ngele from Botswana, were preparing to loan out Mutizwa.

While Highlanders are another option for the player and his handlers, indications are that the Tanzanian outfit could be Mutizwa’s next destination.

“Mutizwa will be loaned out to Young Africans of Tanzania and that I can say with certainty. Highlanders are also an option, but I think they will opt for the Tanzanians,” said the source.

Mutizwa’s manager Gibson Mahachi could neither confirm nor deny the proposed loan move yesterday.

“I’m not aware of the loan move, but if he is to be loaned, that will be entirely up to Bidvets Wits,” said Mahachi.

Speaking on the Bidvets Wits’ official website, Hunt described Ngele as “very similar” to Sibusiso Vilakazi, who has joined Mamelodi Sundowns, and said Malajila was a “very good player”.

“Now our attack looks very strong, also with James Keene, Eleazar Rodgers, Gabadinho Mhango and Phakamani Mahlambi,” said Hunt, leaving out the 2015 Castle Lager Golden Boot winner Mutizwa.

Mutizwa yesterday seemed unmoved by the reports, saying he was actually enjoying his pre-season training.

If he moves to Tanzania, Mutizwa will become the fifth Zimbabwean player to attract interest from the emerging league of choice in Africa.

At Young Africans, he will play alongside Thabani Kamusoko, Donald Ngoma and Method Mwanjali, while former teammate Bruce Kangwa will be an opponent at Azam where he has agreed personal terms.
