ROLL out the white carpet! National Arts Merit Awards (Nama) Outstanding Children’s Book Award winner Fortune Tazvivinga will on Saturday evening celebrate her feat at a white carpet event to be held at Horizon Pub and Grill in Bulawayo.
The white carpet event, organised by 3D Events, will see the 24-year-old showing off her accolade to friends and colleagues.

In an interview with Chronicle Entertainment, Tazvivinga said she wanted to share the award with the people of Bulawayo as the accolade was most importantly for the people who helped her in her career.

“The accolade is not for me but for the people of Bulawayo who live in the cultural hub of the country. We will be celebrating those things at the event,” said Tazvivinga.

She said she would be wearing an all-white gear that would befit a white carpet event.

“I have a dress that one of my designers is working on. The dress will be white as the event will be a white carpet event. I will be at the event to celebrate the award with friends and colleagues and those who want to celebrate Bulawayo art,” Tazvivinga said.

One of the designers of her dress, Nyasha “Diva” Timangira, said she was hard at work trying to finish up Tazvivinga’s dress.

3D Events director Mduduzi Mdlongwa said the event would be a celebration of Tazvivinga’s sterling achievements on a national level.

He said the night would have a lot of glitz and glamour.

“She is a young and talented person who has a vision on where she is going. We therefore decided to give her a befitting party to celebrate her achievements which made Bulawayo proud.”

He said those who attend the event will have pictures taken on the white carpet – Hollywood style with a cocktail party.

“I encourage people to glam up and show their fashion prowess as the event will be a world-class one,” said Mdlongwa.
