FORMER Highlanders FC utility player Milton Ncube is close to making his debut for Ajax Cape Town having been an unused substitute during his team’s 0-1 defeat to Mpumalanga Black Aces at Mbombela Stadium on Saturday.Ncube joined the Urban Warriors in June and delays in securing a work permit have hindered his first appearance for the Cape Town club which is on position two in the Absa Premiership, seven points behind pace setters Kaizer Chiefs.

Ajax Cape Town have averaged two points per game with 14 points in their bag after seven matches.

Roger De Sa, Ajax cape Town coach, spoke highly of Ncube who is capable of playing as a leftback, midfielder or even lead the attack.

“I’m delighted one of my experienced defenders (Ncube) is back after his honeymoon. Soon he will be in the starting lineup. There isn’t much to teach him because he is a genuine, complete player who is tactically gifted. He can play in any position in the team when required which gives him an edge over other players,” De Sa said.

Another former Highlanders FC player whose side was on the losing end is Khumbulani Banda who had a great game for Maritzburg United as they lost 0-1 to former champions Kaizer Chiefs.

Banda seem to be enjoying his stay at Maritzburg United evidenced  by the amount of game time that he has been getting at Steve Kompela coached KwaZulu Natal based club.

The dreadlocked left footed player was involved in a number of forays that his club undertook and was also impressive when defending.
Cuthbert Malajila scored the first goal for the defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns who beat Polokwane City 3-0. Themba Zwane and Teko Modise were also on target as Mamelodi Sundowns went for a third successive league win which lifted them to fourth position on the table, eight points adrift of Kaizer Chiefs.
