Tendai Ndoro

ORLANDO Pirates striker Tendai Ndoro may be well ahead of the pack in the race for 2016/17 Golden Boot, but the Zimbabwean has not been as efficient as these strikers.

Ndoro leads the pack in terms of goals overall this season, scoring 11 goals in his 13 appearances for Orlando Pirates, three ahead of Cape Town City’s Lebogang Manyama. However, despite scoring five of his goals in the first two games for Pirates, his goals have been spread over 1125 minutes of play, which sees him fall outside of the top five in terms of minutes per goals.

However, the strikers ahead of Ndoro have spent far less time on the pitch and to assume that their goalscoring ratios would remain better than his if they played more does not necessarily hold true, especially considering that one of Ndoro’s teammates is second in the rankings but has not been given the nod ahead of Ndoro for the first team plans under both Augusto Palacios and Muhsin Ertugral.

Nonetheless, these players’ efficiency in front of goal has been commendable and it will be interesting to see whether they can retain their goalscoring prowess for the remainder of the season.
