Bantu Rovers coach Johannes Ngodzo is confident that his youthful Division One team will do well this season.

The Zifa Southern Region Division One season kicks off in two weeks’ time.

Ngodzo revealed that the club is on a rebuilding exercise with a number of first team players this year drawn from their Under-18 side.

“Bantu Rovers is one club that has a very vibrant junior policy which has seen us promoting players from the Under-18 side to replace players that are either leaving the club or are on loan to other clubs.

“We’ve identified a number of young talented players especially from our Under-18 group which has enabled us to build a new team from scratch,” said Ngodzo.

He said his experience as a former professional player and club president Methembe Ndlovu’s experience will see the team doing well this season.

Ngodzo said preparations for the coming season are already in progress.

“At the moment we’re gearing the boys both physically and mentally to adapt to the competitive league.

“We’ve also got older and experienced signings that we feel will motivate our younger players on the field,” said Ngodzo.

Ngodzo said his players should not feel intimidated because of their youthfulness.

Bantu Rovers lost Teenage Hadebe, Nqobizitha Masuku, Obidiah Tarumbwa, Lawson Nkomo, Zephaniah Ngodzo, Raphael Kutinyu, Herbert Dick and Siza Dube.

Hadebe, Masuku and Tarumbwa are with Highlanders.

They were able to sign Prince Phiri, Nyasha Garai and Gladman Baribari from Highlanders FC.
