ACTION continues in the Zifa Central Soccer League (CSL) with the highlight of this weekend fixtures being the clash between Nichrut and Tongogara at Peak Stadium today.

It will be a test of character for both sides with Tongogara hoping to maintain their grip on the summit of the log standings while the Shurugwi-based outfit will be looking at preserving their impeccable home record.

The army side lead the standings with 27 points while Nichrut has so far collected 19 points although two of their matches are still to be determined by the league’s disciplinary committee after they were abandoned.

John Nyikadzino, the Nichrut coach is confident that his charges will upset the table toppers.

“It is going to be a very tough match considering that Tongogara are playing well which is the reason why they are on top of the log standings. However, we are prepared for the game and we have the experience to cause an upset,” Nyikadzino said.

Tongogara gaffer, Kelvin Maphosa, was equally upbeat but was quick to point out that the experience in the Nichrut side would need his charges to dig deep in their bag of tricks if they are to win the match.

“It’s going to be a tough match because they have an experienced coach in John Nyikadzino and they also have experienced players who have played in the Premiership which makes them a tough side to beat.

“They are playing at home but we are up to the challenge and it is games like these which build character. We are going there and we want to come out with a positive result,” said Maphosa.

Elsewhere, Ivan Hoe have a tricky encounter against Telone at Amaveni while Whawha will be expected to collect maximum points when they take on Silo United at Mbizo Stadium.
