SUPERSPORT United head coach Gordon Igesund said their 2-0 win over Kaizer Chiefs on Tuesday night has motivated his players. “Nothing is greater than stopping Amakhosi’s unbeaten run as we cut short their Absa Premiership lead.

“All my players were fantastic and they played according to our strategy. Kingstone Nkhatha also showed his class and abilities after returning from suspension.

“Nkhatha is a fast thinker and a forceful striker,” said Igesund.

The Supersport coach believes Nkhatha is the best signing so far especially in the second half of the season. His presence will definitely give enough depth to the team which aims to finish the season on a high note.

“Of course Nkhatha is among strikers who will start when we play high flying Polokwane City tomorrow at home.

“We worked very hard with players and they are all prepared to win in the Nedbank Cup last 32 and progress to the last 16,” said the former Bafana Bafana coach.

Igesund said his team had played in cup finals before but they still have to work hard if they are to win.

The arrival of Nkhatha to the Pretoria based side has put a good smile to the management and the team’s supporters.

SuperSport will play struggling AmaZulu in a league match next Sunday at Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria.

Igesund said former Dynamos goalkeeper George Chigova was working very hard for the first choice goalkeeping position and is keeping the team’s number one goalie Ronwen William on his toes.

Both Nkhatha and Chigova signed three-year contracts.

Meanwhile, Chiefs’ Willard “Salt&Vinegar” Katsande, Matthew Rusike and Ovidy Karuru will entertain a lower division side EDU Sports FC at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg today at 3PM and Mamelodi Sundowns will host National First Division side Thanda Zulu Royals this evening at Loftus Stadium, Pretoria in the Nedbank Cup last 32.
