ALL female acapella group Nobuntu will from this week embark on a national tour to launch and promote their second album.

The tour, which begins in their hometown – Bulawayo on Saturday with a performance at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe, ends in Victoria Falls on June 25 at Chipala Cultural Experience.

Advance tickets for the shows have been pegged at $5 with the Harare edition on June 18 being held at the Old Mutual Theatre.

The group, which is made up of five members Thandeka Moyo, Joyline Sibanda, Zanele Manhenga, Heather Dube and Duduzile Sibanda, launched its second album online in March after the singles were released to local radio stations. One of the album’s tracks, Narini, once took first position on DStv’s Zambezi Magic Zim top 10 chart show showing how popular it was.

Moyo described the 14-track album as a Zimbabwean experience.

“Our new album, Ekhaya is an experience of what it means to be Zimbabwean and above all, African. It highlights the importance of being proud of who you are, where one comes from, their tradition, norms and culture. There is no place like home, Ekhaya is home”, said Moyo.

After the national tour, Nobuntu, which is fresh from a successful Canadian tour, will leave the country for performances in Italy in July.

Nobuntu’s first album Thina saw the ensemble being nominated for a Zimbabwe International Women Award (Best Musician Category) in London, United Kingdom.
