NOMINATIONS for the prestigious Zimbabwe Guineas Grade (3) Race, the first leg of the Triple Crown set to be  held at Borrowdale on February 22 are out.Mashonaland Turf Club has released a field of 13 horses that have been put in the line of fire by their respective stables for the Zimbabwe Guineas race battle.

This event has been pencilled in as the sixth race on the card and will be run over 1,600 metres. It has $9,000 stake money up for grabs by the winner and three other placed runners.

The first partnership to go past the finishing line will walk away $5,400  richer while the other placed runners   will pocket $1,800, $1,125 and $675 respectively.

Picalilly from the stable of Alyson Wright leads the cast of runners that will be  loaded into the stall gates ready to do battle come Sunday. This horse, Picalilly, sits  on the apex of the ratings table after being rated (91).

The least rated runner that will take part in this race is Amas Amat from the stable of  Corne Spies.

Amas Amat is rated (57).

For the Guineas race all three-year-old geldings and colts will be allowed to carry 58 kilogrammes while fillies will stride down the turf carrying 55.5 kilogrammes on their backs.

Six races will be held as supporting acts on this race day. A total of 105 contestants on their pilots will showcase their running abilities in all the races.

All the supporting races plus the main event have a combined total of $61,500 stake money to share among all placed horses and winners.

The race card is expected to be released by Mashonaland Turf Club before the end of this week paving way for punters across the country to start looking into their crystal balls in search of the winners.
