YOUNG, vivacious and energetic are terms that best describe Star FM presenter Nokuthula Sithole aka Noxy who is slowly carving out a name for herself in the world of radio.

Joining the country’s leading radio station last year, the Bulawayo born beauty’s voice has become one of the most recognisable on the country’s airwaves.

Many will know her as one of the lead singers with Vocal Ex, the mass interdenominational choir based in Bulawayo.

Presenting with seasoned DJ Mox on the TXO from midday to 3PM and the Midnight Express until 3AM on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, Noxy reflects on the one year journey she has been on radio.

“It has not been an easy ride but I thank God because I have managed to find my feet at Star FM. The team welcomed me well and took me through the ropes and now I can safely say I’m gaining experience in broadcasting,” she said.

The 26 year old said her first day behind the microphone was terrifying, but thanks DJ Otis Fraser, Mox and sports caster Steve Vickers for holding her hand.

“My first solo experience on radio was scary. But thanks to DJ Mox for calming my nerves and making me believe in myself. Vickers has been helpful too as he sits me down and makes me listen to my recorded show and gives feedback. I really appreciate that because it has enabled my growth in the broadcasting industry.”

She had virtually no knowledge of producing a show but DJ Mox has also been helpful in that regard as he has taken her through the ropes to learn how to produce a show.

“I have learnt techniques on how to produce a show. I also gained knowledge through the two months in – house training stint that I went through,” she said.

Although Noxy stopped singing with the gospel outfit Vocal Ex, her passion for gospel music has not waned.

The former Eveline High school pupil’s love for gospel music has seen her being the producer of Gospel Greats show which is anchored by Yvonne Karichero on Sundays from 6PM – 8PM.

“I was part of the group since its formation and was a backing vocalist and sang soprano. However, my passion for radio meant I’d to sacrifice my musical career with Vocal EX.

“I know music is part of me, later on I will resume singing as a solo gospel artiste,” she said.

At her age many of her peers have been swept off their feet by suitable suitors, but for Noxy love for radio, has seen her not rushing to be in a relationship.

“I’m too busy to think of being in love. I feel I’m fine being single,” she said.

She says during her leisure time she goes braaing with friends or watches movies with them.
