COMEDIAN Ntando Van Moyo is buoyant ahead of his debut one man show dubbed #BiziRiot as advance tickets for the show have been selling like hotcakes.

The Umahlekisa Comedy Club founder will on Saturday hold a one man show at the Rainbow Hotel in Bulawayo starting at 7PM.
Advance tickets are going for $5 while at the door it will be $7.

Van Moyo said he expected a huge turnout on the day of the show judging by advance ticket sales.

“Looking at the ticket sales and how that whole process is going, I’m very much encouraged. There seems to be a genuine interest in comedy showing that the hard work we did all these years is starting to pay off. Already 100 advance tickets have been sold and on the day we shall have a packed house,” said Van Moyo.

He said the moniker #BiziRiot was synonymous with the types of jokes on the day as he will be in a no nonsense mood with no topic off limits in the country’s current affairs.

The two-time National Art Merit Award nominee said surprisingly women are the ones who have bought most of the tickets.

“Most of the people whoa re interested in the show are women. I think men in the city are stressing them to the point that they want to have a laugh and forget their problems,” chuckled Van Moyo.

He said he would also shoot a live DVD that he would use to promote himself in the future.

“Although I’m shooting a live DVD, I’ll also encourage people to come with cameras and also record. This is so that they can share clips of the show online and hopefully this will go viral,” said Van Moyo.

The first comedian to hold a one man show was award winning Carl Joshua Ncube who in 2010 staged The Big Announcement at the Harare International Conference Centre.
