NEWLY appointed Chiredzi FC head coach Gishon Ntini yesterday held his first training session with the team despite verbal blows coming from fired Moses Chunga who is claiming ownership and directorship of the Lowveld side.Ntini was welcomed by a big crowd which turned up at Chishamiso Stadium to witness the gaffer’s first practise session with hopes high that he would just be the messiah for the strugglers.

His first assignment will be a match against Buffaloes who are visiting this weekend.

Despite Ntini starting work yesterday, Chunga’s fight for control of the club rages on.

Two weeks ago Chunga was barred from interfering with the team’s operations after the Charles Muchatukwa-led executive served him with a court interdict days after announcing that they had separated ways with the former Zimbabwe international.

On Monday Muchatukwa and his troops withdrew the case from the courts and Chunga thought he had won his battle.

On Tuesday Chunga was booed by supporters after players refused to listen to his orders, instead opting to take instructions from his former assistants Dzingai Murinye and Tinashe Zishiri who were in charge of the proceedings.

Yesterday Chunga did not feature during the training session as Ntini, Murinye and Zishiri took charge.

Ntini who has openly said his side needs additional players had the Maketo brothers David and Ronald Muchineripi Muneri, Tatenda Kanyemba and Terrence Ganyata who were offloaded by Triangle FC.

Chunga on Tuesday had no kind words for Ntini whom he accused of trying to manipulate the conflict for his own benefit.

He said as the director of Chiredzi FC he is in charge of player registration.

“I don’t get it when a person decides to jump into a situation he knows is full of conflicts and tries to portray himself as the saviour. Sometimes people tend to be small-minded, and it’s not healthy for them.

“He was talking about wholesale beefing up of the squad. I know there is only one slot for a junior and five others, if we decide to de-register some players during the mid-season then there will be openings,” said Chunga.

But Gizha also hit back at Chunga.

“I coached Triangle and when I was sacked I left without fighting because Triangle is not my club. It’s just simple, you must stay where you are needed so I was surprised when I read that Chunga said Ntini is taking advantage. Coaches come and go. I hope I will be here for long but I won’t be here for ever,” said Ntini.

Chiredzi has so far lost skilful striker Tapiwa Dephistara to Bulawayo giants Highlanders while solid defender Jimmy Dzingai is allegedly  training with Triangle.
