NUST FC put up a spirited performance as they fought for their first Southern Region Soccer League point in the 2015 season by holding Bulawayo Chiefs to a 0-0 draw at Luveve Stadium yesterday.

After the final whistle, the university students broke into wild celebrations while their dejected opponents were left miserable after blowing away an opportunity to go two-points clear at the top of the table.

The day simply didn’t belong to Bulawayo Chiefs as in the dying stages of the game their winger Ishmael Wadi could not direct his header into an empty net.

“It wasn’t our day but such is football. We’ll go back and work hard for our next game. The good thing is that we created chances but failed to convert. We will work on our finishing,” said Thulani Sibanda, the Bulawayo Chiefs’ coach.

Title contenders Bulawayo City on Saturday laboured to a 1-0 win against Victoria Falls side Trumus while Ntabazinduna were held to a 0-0 draw by visiting Makomo.

Bulawayo City’s coach Philani “Beefy” Ncube and Ntabazinduna’s Agent Sawu were among the crowd that braved the rainy weather to watch the Bulawayo Chiefs-Nust encounter.
