FORMER Highlanders midfielder-cum left back Vusa Nyoni’s second tier Belgian side Mons recorded their biggest win in recent memory when they pummelled Geel 5-0 in a league match at the De Leunion Stadium on Saturday.
Nyoni, who chose to stick with the team when they were relegated from the Jupiler League last season,  has been a regular since the start of the season. It was Mons’ third straight victory after a disastrous start to their 2014/15 campaign. They are now eighth on the standings with 11 points from seven matches, seven behind leaders OH Leuven which used to be home to Ovidy Karuru.

In the Czech Liga, former AmaZulu strongman Costa Nhamoinesu’s Sparta Praha side held Teplice to a 0-0 draw while in Denmark, the only two Zimbabweans plying their trade there, Silas Songani and Quincy Antipas were expected to come face to face last night.

Songani, formerly with Harare City, turns out for Sonderjyske while Antipas, a Motor Action product, is in the books of league debutants Hobro who have had a fairy tale start to the league.

Hobro lie second on the standings with 13 points from six matches and Antipas has contributed two goals to the 11 that the team has scored to date.

Former Highlanders and Bantu Rovers junior, Marvellous Nakamba was a non playing substitute for his Dutch side, Vitesse’s 3-1 victory over Excelsior.

Nigerian Abiola Dauda scored a hatrick in the match.
