WARRIORS’ coach Callisto Pasuwa will this week meet Zifa to brief them on his plans for the African Cup of Nations qualifier against unpredictable opponents Swaziland later this month.

The two teams are level on four points after a win and a draw, but Swaziland are at the top of the table as they have scored more goals than the Warriors.

“I can confirm that the coach (Pasuwa) will have a meeting with the president before the end of this week where it is expected that he will brief him on his plans for the Swaziland match and probably unveil the players he wants for the camp before the list is made public next week,” said Zifa chief executive officer Jonathan Mashingaidze yesterday.

Zimbabwe cannot afford to lose to Swaziland and Pasuwa is likely to blend his African Nations Championship (Chan) squad with a few foreign-based in-form players such as Mamelodi Sundowns’ Khama Billiat, Orlando Pirates’ Tendai Ndoro, Knowledge Musona, who plays for KV Oostende in Belgium and former AmaZulu hardman Costa Nhamoinesu, who plies his trade with top Czech Republic side Sparta Prague.

In-form Highlanders’ goalkeeper Ariel Sibanda might get a recall to the national team at the expense of young Donovan Bernard of How Mine, who has seen little action since Chan.

The Warriors began their campaign with an away 2-1 win over Malawi before a Washington Arubi howler against Guinea at Rufaro Stadium saw the boys drop two points at home.

On the other hand Swaziland shocked Guinea with a 2-1 win, although the match was played at a neutral venue as a result of an outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus in the west African country. Caf has since lifted Guinea’s home ban and Zimbabwe will now travel to Conakry for the return leg in September.

That match, however, will come after the June 4 home clash against Malawi.
