FORMER Hwange head coach Paul Moyo is set to bounce back into mainstream domestic football coaching at Zifa Bulawayo Province Division Two side Kombani.

The Plumtree-based outfit, which is owned by a South African-based Zimbabwean businessman who runs a consortium of businesses in South Africa and Zimbabwe, wants the former Botswana BR Highlanders and Taffic coach to take the team to the second tier league next season.

Moyo’s last fulltime job was with BR Highlanders in Botswana, but has lately been based in his rural home of Empandeni in Mangwe district.

A Kombani FC executive member Faith Silandulo Dube said they were yet to sign a contract with the veteran coach, but confirmed their Division One ambitions.

“Our hope is that he drives us to Division One,” said Dube.

Moyo, a known disciplinarian and shrewd tactician, will replace Carlton Gumede, who has been in charge of the ambitious Matabeleland South outfit.

Moyo was last employed in Zimbabwe by Hwange after being lured back home by the then Hwange secretary-general Charles Nyala. During his time at the club, the coalminers were a force to reckon with and they also turned their home ground, the Colliery, into a fortress.
