A SUSPECTED commercial sex worker and her boyfriend have been arrested for allegedly stealing a mobile phone from a Bulawayo man after he failed to pay for sex.Zandile Nsingo, 38, and Mthulisi Ndimande, 40, who is suspected to be a pimp, allegedly told Marshal Ncube the value of his cellphone was equivalent to the sexual service he had “enjoyed.”

Ncube had allegedly pledged the cell phone – worth $200 – as security after failing to pay $15 for Nsingo’s services.

Nsingo and Ndimande appeared before magistrate Tancy Dube facing a theft charge.

They were not asked to plead and were remanded out of custody to February 20.

Prosecuting Kenneth Shava told the court that on Tuesday last week at around 8PM at Pumula Old Beer Garden, Ncube was drinking beer when he was approached by Nsingo and Ndimande.

They requested to join him in drinking beer and he agreed. Shava said Ncube had sex with Nsingo but failed to pay her.

He told the court Ncube said Nsingo should hold on to his cellphone while he looked for money to pay. Ncube allegedly later shifted goal posts and refused to hand over the phone.

The court heard Nsingo tricked him into handing it over by requesting to use the phone to make a call.

Ncube reported the matter to the police leading to the duo’s arrest.
