A PLUMTREE High School general hand has dragged the institution to court demanding his outstanding salary amounting to $3 282.

In an application filed at the Plumtree Magistrate’s Court, Mr Dumisani Ndlovu said he was struggling to fend for his family and pleaded with the court to order the school to pay his outstanding salary.

Mr Ndlovu, who is being represented by Mr Kenneth Lubimbi of Lumbimbi and Partners LegalPractitioners in the matter, said he had tried to engage the school over the matter several times to no avail.

“I have served at the school for the past nine years and they owe me $3 282 in unpaid salaries.

“This money dates back to 2015. I have on several occasions requested and pleaded with the school authorities to give me the money so I  can pay my creditors but they have dismissed my appeal.

“At one time I engaged the headmaster over the matter and he told me that there was nowhere I could report the matter. He said there was nothing I could do about his unwillingness to pay me,” said Mr Ndlovu.

He said he had three children who were attending school and he could not pay their school fees.

Mr Ndlovu said he owed Phakamani High School $430 and Dingumuzi Primary $210 in school fees arrears.

He said the two schools have on several occasions issued him with reminders to clear the arrears and he has produced these letters before the Plumtree High School administration.

In response to the application the school which is being represented by the Civil Division of the Attorney General’s office asked the court to dismiss Mr Ndlovu’s claim.

The school said Mr Ndlovu had not furnished it with a notice of intention to sue before submitting his application before the court.

Last year workers who are employed under the Plumtree High School School Development Association (SDA) complained that the school was not paying their salaries.
