Pool association board petitioned

A vote of no confidence is looming in the Bulawayo Pool Association executive after players petitioned the board to step down.
The petition was sent to Raphael Mukucha, the association’s secretary-general, on July, 30. They raised a number of issues they were not happy with.
Clubs and players are said not to be happy with why members of the provincial board shunned an association sanctioned tournament in preference to one in which some of the executive members are alleged to have been among the organisers.

Not happy with that, former provincial vice chairperson Liberty Mcijo is alleged to have stepped down.
The petition was in terms of article 8.4.111 and 9.2 of the BPA constitution which states that a vote of no confidence can be passed on the executive. Disunity among members was also cited and the issue of transfer fees.

They were not happy with the expulsion of clubs over registration fees and failure to organise tournaments.
Members also said the association tended to ignore bereaved members’ families.

BPA spokesperson Charles Wadawu said he was waiting to be briefed on the issue as he was not present on Sunday when the executive met with association’s members to resolve the issue.

“I was attending appeal cases for abandoned games, I don’t have any information pertaining to what transpired in the meeting. I am waiting to be briefed,” said Wadawu.

According to the BPA constitution clause 9.2.1, “ A special general meeting may be summoned by the executive or by requisition to the secretary-general by at least 10 percent ordinary BPA members in writing and no business shall be entered upon but that for which the meeting has been called.”

BPA members who refused to be identified cried foul on the method used to convey the message to the members who signed the petition saying that it was unfair and did not reach most of the intended members because the letters were addressed to club representatives who are suspected to be now conniving with the executive.

“The executive sent letters to our club representatives and some of the club members were not told of the meeting and some thought that they were going to be represented by just a few members,” said a member.

Godfrey Kondo, the BPA chairperson, said they were still deliberating on the issue and would get back to the members soon.
The meeting on Sunday was meant to authenticate and verify the signatures of the petitioners.
