THERE was poor turnout but excellent performances at the Dreams Reloaded Show held at Elite 400 on Friday night. The concert, meant to raise money for Luyanda Uthando Children’s Foundation, featured Blessing Chimanga and the Dreams, Jeys Marabini, Pro9logy and i-Tribe. Organisers were left scratching their heads not knowing whether it was poor marketing, the wet weather or general apathy from people in Bulawayo that led to the poor turnout at the event.

To their credit, the artistes performed as if the auditorium was filled to the brim and gave the few that gathered there a night to remember. Even socialite Mbo Mahocs took to social media to air her views on the matter.

“Dreams Concert Fundraiser for Luyanda Uthando Children’s Foundation last night had a disappointing turnout. “For whatever reason, be it poor marketing by organisers, financial handicap, weather or events running concurrently.

“If we don’t support our own, who will? Something is wrong somewhere, we are not doing or getting it right! Lets Fix It. Thank you to those that came through,” she wrote on Facebook.

First on stage was a four member dance group, Prology which kept the crowd in awe with their well-choreographed dances as the youthful group performed to various mixes of hip hop, house and R&B.

Not putting a foot wrong during their well-choreographed set, the Bulawayo group showed signs of being the next biggest group after the defunct Anti-Virus. Thereafter multitalented group i-Tribe took to the stage and took the show up a notch with their melodious voice on stage.

The group, which is just a year old, performed as if they had been together for years with their well-choreographed dance moves. Wrapping up the night were Blessing Chimanga and Jazz muso Jeys Marabini.

Like seasoned performers, the duo kept the crowd on their feet as they periodically asked the crowd to dance and sing along. After the show, the artistes went into the foyer to thank people who attended the show as they were trickling out. Some grabbed the chance to take pictures.
