President Mugabe has appointed a 15-member board of trustees led by Cde Simon Khaya Moyo to run the Development Trust of Zimbabwe (DTZ).President Mugabe is the patron of the Trust, a national independent trust whose main thrust is to focus on development at national level.

“The President and First Secretary of Zanu-PF Cde Robert G Mugabe has appointed a new board of trustees to run DTZ with effect from June 1, 2015,” said Cde Moyo.

The other board members are Cdes Ignatius Chombo, Sydney Sekeramayi, Oppah Muchinguri, Josiah Hungwe, Prisca Mupfumira, Sithembiso Nyoni, Mike Bimha, Cain Mathema, Tsitsi Muzenda, Thandiwe Nkomo-Ibrahim, Tshinga Dube, Charles Utete, Herbert Nkala and Sobusa Gula-Ndebele.

Seven trustees from the old board who were not re-appointed are Walter Chidhakwa, Francis Nhema, Tongai Muzenda, Didymus Mutasa, Dzikamai Mavhaire, Nicholas Ncube and Busi Bango.

The aim of DTZ is to ensure that there is a project in every province.

It was established in 1989 to assist people to establish income-generating projects. The trust acquired the Nuanetsi Ranch in Mwenezi as its first project and it seeks to create a general awareness, understanding and appreciation among Zimbabweans of the opportunities and benefits in the fields of agriculture, commerce and industry.

According to DTZ Trust Deeds, some of its objectives are to provide bursaries, donations, gifts, grants, loans, prizes and scholarships to any beneficiary in the furtherance of the objectives of the trust and to construct houses and buildings or works of every description on any land belonging to it.

The Deed also states that the trustees are empowered to accept and solicit gifts, money, and to raise money from donations, loans and any other ways deemed expedient by the trust.

All the business of the Trust is conducted by a way of resolutions passed by a simple majority.
