SOUTH Africa kwaito star Professor has dismissed as “nonsense and lies peddled to sell newspapers”, reports that he wants out of Kalawa Jazmee — the stable that catapulted him to fame and fortune.

Kalawa Jazmee Records is owned by Oscar “Oskido” Mdlongwa and his partners. It is the stable of stars such as Busiswa, Trompies, Berita Khumalo, Alaska, Dr Malinga and Heavy K.

Media reports from South Africa earlier this week suggested that Professor, real name Mkhonzeni Langa, was unhappy with the marketing of his album University of Kalawa Jazmee.

He was said to be seeking another record label and was spotted at Sony Music offices in Johannesburg.

Professor, however, said he was happy at Kalawa Jazmee records and his fans should not believe made up stories.

“They always make up stories to sell their newspapers and I don’t know why they do that. My fans shouldn’t believe made up stories, I’m happy at Kalawa” he told The Chronicle.

The Jezebel hitmaker said everything was still the same and those who wanted his services should call his manager Scotch Mathenga and book him.

“There’s nothing that’s changed as all my bookings are still being done with Scotch at the office. Such things are rubbish and bad for music. If someone has nothing to write about they make up stories,” said Professor.

He said he was concentrating on his music career and his track Nguye Lona, which is already making waves, was from his upcoming album.

“Besides this whole nonsense (his leaving Kalawa), I’ve been in the studio working on my album. I haven’t given it a name yet. The track Nguye Lona with Heavy K, Sdudla and Mathousand is doing well and after I release the second single off the album, that’s when I’ll give it a name,” said Professor.

He said the album was filled with collaborations with artistes such as Naak Music and Big Nuz.

The Durban-born star said hard work and dedication inspired him to come up with catchy phrases and hit tracks.

“I go to the studio in a good frame of mind and I block out everything that’s negative so that the creative juices start flowing. It’s by the grace of God that I’m producing hits for such a long time,” said Professor.

He said he had fond memories of his shows in Zimbabwe as he enjoys performing for his fans.

“One can’t describe the love people show me in Zimbabwe when I perform there. They make me feel welcome when I’m on the stage, and I enjoy performing for the many fans that I have in Zimbabwe,” said Professor.

He hinted on collaborating with Oliver Mtukudzi in the near future.

“There are preparations in place to work with Oliver Mtukudzi. I can’t give more details but everything is in place and I hope something good will come out of the whole collaboration,” said Professor.
