A SELF-confessed prostitute who dropped out of school in Grade one, yesterday defended her profession, saying she makes more money than people in other trades. Talent Ndlovu, 20, of Pumula suburb, who appeared in court accused of stealing from a client, said she slept with about 10 men a night and as tiresome as it was, she would not leave the vice.

The court heard how Ndlovu was hired by Washington Nhendere for sexual services for the whole night last week on Thursday and ended up stealing his money and mobile phone.

Ndlovu appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Sibongile Msipa-Marondedze charged with theft and was remanded out of custody to April 27, for trial.

She pleaded guilty to theft in relation to Nhendere’s Astro mobile phone, but denied stealing his money.

Ndlovu said she was advised by a friend to join her in the old profession in the world.

“Your worship I sell my body for a living offering sexual services for $5. I didn’t become a house maid because there’s no money there. I make $50 a day and a maid makes that amount of money in a month,” said Ndlovu.

“I sleep with many men per day and I do get tired but the money is also good. I actually got advice from my friend to become a prostitute and I’ve also realised she was telling the truth.”

She also told the court that she dropped out of school in Grade one.

Prosecuting, Taurayi Hondoyemoto told the court that on April 16, at around 2AM, Ndlovu and Nhendere were at a local hotel drinking beer together.

Nhendere later hired Ndlovu for sexual services.

“The duo proceeded to Nhendere’s house where they had a sex-filled night before he fell asleep,” said Hondoyemoto.

Ndlovu allegedly woke up later and took advantage of a drunken Nhendere. She stole his Astro Visual 2 mobile phone and cash amounting to $150 before sneaking out of the house.

Nhendere woke up at around 4AM and discovered that Ndlovu had stolen his phone and money.

The matter was reported to the police, leading to Ndlovu’s arrest.

Property stolen was valued at $670 and goods worth $520 were recovered.
