THE Premier Soccer League has postponed all league matches that were scheduled for this weekend to accommodate Heroes’ Day matches set for Monday.

A total of 31 matches will be played across the country as part of Heroes’ Day commemorations and the postponement was done after consultations with Zifa and the Ministry of Sport and Recreation.

Harare is set to host the biggest football fixture in local football, a clash between Dynamos and Highlanders.

In a statement on its official Facebook page, the PSL said Match Day 22 fixtures will now be played on the weekend of August 18-20.

“This serves to advise that Castle Lager PSL Match Day 22 fixtures scheduled for the weekend 12/13 August 2017 have been postponed to accommodate the Heroes celebrations matches to be played on Monday 14 August 2017. Match Day 22 fixtures shall be played on the Weekend of 18 to 20 August 2017. The rescheduled mid-week fixture between Caps United FC and FC Platinum will be played at the National Sports Stadium on Wednesday 16 August 2017,” reads the PSL statement.

Zifa weighed in with its own statement that reads: “The selection of teams to partake in the celebrations comprises PSL teams and Division One teams from all four of Zifa’s regional leagues. In other fixtures pitting PSL clubs only, Shabanie Mine and FC Platinum will clash in Zvishavane, while Chicken Inn and Bulawayo City will play in Bulawayo. Chinhoyi will witness Premier League action when Caps United and Ngezi Platinum descend on the Mashonaland West capital.” — @skhumoyo2000.
