BULAWAYO football giants Highlanders open their 2015 Castle Lager Premiership season with a tricky away game against last season’s runners-up ZPC Kariba, according to fixtures released yesterday.

The clubs will know the date for this season’s kick off after next Saturday’s rescheduled PSL annual general meeting.

Kennedy Ndebele, the PSL chief executive officer, said their calendar would be announced after factoring in league competitions as well as Fifa approved national team assignments.

“We’re done with the league fixtures and now we’re waiting for Zifa to furnish us with Fifa calendar dates to complete our calendar. We also have to factor in the competitions that we are going to have as a league and everything will be known at the AGM,” said Ndebele.

The league is expected to announce a super eight tournament as well as the Chibuku Super 16 competition.

Having had an impressive debut season last year, pressure will be on ZPC Kariba to repeat that feat which saw them lose the title on the last day to Dynamos when they take on a Bongani Mafu-assembled Bosso.

Just like ZPC Kariba’s coach Saul Chaminuka who lost a number of players during the off-season, Mafu will want to start on a bright note.

Defending champions Dynamos begin their campaign with a rather easy tie against Buffaloes at home.

Pre-season favourites How Mine, who made lots of noise bringing on board a number of veterans who include Charles Sibanda, Limited Chikafa, Munyaradzi Diya, Tawanda Muparati and Devon Chafa, start their season at home against Chapungu.

The biggest domestic match pitting Highlanders and Dynamos is on week 14 in Harare while the Harare derby between DeMbare and Caps United comes early on Week Four.

Just like last season, Highlanders start their game against Caps United at home on Week Seven.
