THE Premier Soccer League will soon summon Harare City coach Masimba Dinyero to a disciplinary hearing for refusing to receive his Chibuku Super Cup runners-up medal after his side lost 1-3 on penalties to FC Platinum on Sunday. The two clubs will also be fined for pitch invasion by their supporters at the end of the explosive final with the Sunshine Boys also set to be further fined for delaying the start of the final.

“Masimba Dinyero will be summoned to appear before our disciplinary committee for refusing to receive his medal during the prize presentation ceremony at the end of the final at Mandava Stadium. We are also going to fine the two clubs for pitch invasion by their fans while according to the match report, Harare City caused the delay of the start of the final,” said PSL chief executive officer Kennedy Ndebele yesterday.

Dinyero and his boys felt hard done by referee Norman Matemera whom they accused of having had a hand in their defeat.

Dinyero argued that Matemera awarded FC Platinum a controversial stoppage time goal that forced the match into extra time and eventually the penalty lottery.

The four minutes of time added on had elapsed when FC Platinum, trailing 0-1, were awarded a free kick in an attack that could have ended when one of their players strayed into an offside position.

The resultant free kick yielded the goal scored by Walter Musona which was heavily disputed by Harare City. Video replays however showed that the goal did cross the line.

“We should not have come all the way to be humiliated like this. It’s unnecessary to come and compete with a team they always want to award the cup. It’s for that reason I didn’t take the medal, I don’t need it,” said Dinyero in an interview with our sister paper H-Metro in statements that are also likely to land him in hot soup with the PSL hierarchy.
