ALL is set for the Miss Gweru contest taking place at the Cathedral Hall on Friday.

Ten beauties – Tendai Chitsa, Kgotso Mhandu, Ashley Winterboer, Anesu Chimuka, Anna Sigiya, Nobuhle Dube, Ruvimbo Chihava, Michelle Tugwete, Takudzwa Phiri and Mihlayenkosi Mlibha will take to the ramp. Entertainment will be provided by Ammara Brown, Legion, Doc Anthony and Kwekwe dance group – the Voltage Dance Crew.

Pageant organiser, Mavis Koslek, said competition would be stiff as they had selected the best the Midlands capital has to offer adding that preparations were going well

“The event is promising to be bigger and better than the previous ones. A number of companies and sponsors have supported us thus we’re glad and confident that the event will be a great one,” said Koslek.

The event will be held under the theme ‘The Pinnacle of Beauty’.

“The pageant is all about empowering the girl child. Selecting this year’s contestants was not a difficult process as the girls exhibited a lot of potential, drive and passion which is exactly what we were looking for,” said Koslek. She said through the pageant, they would harness up-and-coming talent and enable the models to discover their beauty and its purpose as well as equip them with tools for them to make an impact in the country.

“The girls will be assessed in four categories, designer intimate wear, Avant-Garde designer wear, evening wear and the question and answer section.”

Last year, 18-year-old Courtney Venencia Matende was crowned Miss Gweru. She also shone as she made the top seven at the Miss Tourism Zimbabwe contest last year.
