reorientation

THE Zanu-PF Youth League in Matabeleland South has embarked on a rehabilitation programme for members who had lost touch with the party’s ideology during the days it had been captured by the G40 cabal.

Matabeleland South Zanu-PF Youth League chairperson Cde Washington Nkomo said his executive started the rehabilitation programme on Wednesday.

He said the reorientation will among others ensure that youths do not listen to ousted politicians who are barking from the political wilderness.

“We’re embarking on a programme to rehabilitate Youth League members on the party’s ethos and ideology.

“We are doing this as we realised that the Youth League was seriously infiltrated by the G40 cabal whose agenda was to divide the party and violated the party’s constitution.

“They also should not listen to ousted politicians who no longer have influence in the party and country,” he said.

“What is clear is that some of them were not really sure of what they were doing. They are still learning politics so they were bound to make mistakes.

Hence we are embarking on this programme so that they can learn the agenda of Zanu-PF.”

He said youths are being taught to be ambassadors of the party in their communities through being disciplined.

Cde Nkomo said youths should guard against being used by those seeking political office.

“The party has not directed us to start campaigning, so we don’t expect to see Youth League members campaigning for anyone besides the President.

Youths should be disciplined so that when we officially start campaigning their communities will listen to them.

“No one will listen to us if we are a nuisance in the community,” said Cde Nkomo.

He said the Youth League was inviting Government departments to explain their programmes under the 100-day period.

Cde Nkomo said his executive has warned youths that the party will not shield them when they are involved in criminal activities.

“The new dispensation is anti-corruption and we want to make it clear that we are not going to protect youths who get involved in criminal activities.

“Everyone must carry their crosses. We are fully behind fighting corruption and rebuilding the country,” said Cde Nkomo. — @nqotshili
