JOSTEIN Mambo-Mathuthu got off to a flying start as Black Rhinos FC coach with his side registering its first Premiership away victory this season at the expense of How Mine.
Yesterday’s defeat at Luveve Stadium was How Mine’s fourth consecutive loss and after Black Rhinos struck in the 71st minute through the boot of Milton Kurewa, the hosts simply had no answer.

Black Rhinos were tactically disciplined as they laid back and waited to catch their opponents on the break and they did just that. Goalkeeper Samuel Mafukidze made a long delivery to Brian Muzondiwa who then beat George Magariro before sending a perfect pass to Kurewa who slotted the ball past Ephraim Mazarura.

“It’s all about hard work, commitment and concentration. We didn’t give them a chance and our game plan was to simply let them come at us and then we catch them on a break. This is the first win away from home, I am happy for the boys and I believe this is the beginning of better things to come,” said Mambo-Mathuthu. How Mine were their worst enemies as their players seemed to underrate their opponents and only started playing purposeful soccer when they were trailing. Kuda Musharu with eight goals for How Mine broke away in the 27th minute, sent in a square ball to striking partner Godfrey Nguwodzawo who failed to beat Mafukidze.

With a bit of luck and precision, the visitors could have gone for halftime leading 2-0 with Muzondiwa’s shot going wide 20 minutes into the game with the other chance falling to Jameson Mukombwe just after the half-hour mark who missed the target after some brilliant interplay involving four players.

“We have to improve our attitude because we never transferred the same energy and mentality that we had against Highlanders. I don’t know whether it’s complacency or wrong attitude by my players but we just have to regroup and start winning,” said Ncube.
