URBAN grooves artistes, Ex Q and Rockford “Roki” Josphats, who are riding on the success of their song — Alleluya — will be embarking on a national tour to promote the latest offering.

Less than two months since its release, the song’s video, which was produced by fast-rising record label, Kenako Muzik, has over 65,000 views on YouTube showing just how popular it is.

Game Recognise Game (GRG) manager, Shephard Tsandukwa, said the first show would be held at Liquids Bar in Masvingo on Saturday with GRG DJs, Ash Stylz, Tamuka and Nivek expected to warm up the stage for Roki and Ex Q.

“The song has gone viral as it’s receiving quite a lot of airplay from local radio stations with the views on YouTube encouraging. However, the artistes haven’t benefited much from the collaboration hence the decision to embark on a national tour,” Tsandukwa said.

From Masvingo, the pair will be in Kwekwe for a show at the city’s Sports Club. Bulawayo patrons will sample the song on August 15 when the pair performs at Club Forty 40.

Shot at a local club in Harare, Alleluya is a dance song which will get one into a partying mood.

“Alleluya is all about praising the Lord for all He has done for us. We’ll be praising Him through dance and song, celebrating the goodness of life,” Ex Q said.

Ex Q, who has worked with Roki, a former Big Brother Africa housemate, on several tracks including Pore Pore, The Way and Ndichakutevera, said they were targeting at least 90,000 views on YouTube before submitting the video to international music stations.

“We decided to launch the song across the country after noticing how popular it is.

“We’re also planning to send the video to music stations such as Channel O and MTV Base for airplay, but we want to push its views online first.

“International channels look at the popularity of the song through views on YouTube first before considering your song for airplay. Once we reach at least 90,000 views, we’ll submit it to those stations,” Ex Q said.

The artiste, who is working on his fifth album which he hopes to launch next month, hopes to spread his wings across Africa. Plans are underway to hold shows in Zambia, South Africa and Tanzania.

“The forthcoming album will have a mix of collaborations with jazz, sungura and dancehall artistes as I want it to appeal to a wider audience. My aim is to spread my music across the region,” Ex Q said.
