SOUTH African journalist and author Dudu Busani-Dube, who is behind the self-published love and marriage series, Hlomu the Wife, will be in Bulawayo this weekend for a book review.

The book review will be held at the Homestead along George Silundika and 3rd Avenue opposite Rixi Taxi rank on Saturday, starting midday.

During the book review, Busani-Dube will also do a book signing for two of her other volumes, Naledi His Love and Zandile the Resolute.

Hlomu the Wife tells a story of a young Zulu woman who falls in love with a charming young taxi driver after she relocates to Johannesburg.

This new life takes Hlomu into worlds that she never would have imagined herself being part of. She goes from being an ambitious career driven young lady (journalist) to being the glue that holds together a bunch of grown traditional Zulu men and their kids.

The book that has gripped readers in South Africa is now making inroads in Zimbabwe.

One of the organisers of the book review, Sibhekinkosi Dube, said: “Dudu will be in Bulawayo to meet readers of the book on Saturday. She’ll arrive in the city on Friday afternoon and the book will be sold for $7.”

Dube said like many who do not like reading, she however, found the Hlomu series of books gripping.

“I’m not a reader. But when I read this book, I got addicted from the first page. It gave me a different picture on the way we look at taxi drivers. It teaches us how to support each other because the way Hlomu kept the family together is what makes it an interesting read.”

Busani-Dube is now working on the final instalment of her series which will be from the perspectives of the Zulu brothers.
