THE Castle Lager Premiership title chasing sides Caps United, Highlanders and FC Platinum will play their remaining matches simultaneously in a move aimed at curbing match-fixing.

PSL chief executive officer Kennedy Ndebele declined to comment on the fixtures, but the Match Day 28 programme sent to clubs and their partners showed that Caps United, Highlanders and FC Platinum will all play their games on Saturday at the same time.

The move by the league to have the matches played simultaneously is likely to receive plaudits for promoting Fair Play and preventing possible manipulation of results.

Over the years, the PSL has made it a point that teams involved in the relegation and title races play their last three matches at the same time.
Leaders Caps United, who sit on 54 points, one ahead of Highlanders, are away to Harare City in one of their tricky remaining fixtures.

Harare City are in seventh position, tied on 38 points with sixth-placed defending champions Chicken Inn, who are also hoping to sneak into the top four.

After the Harare City encounter, Caps United will play host to Chibuku Super Cup finalists Ngezi Platinum Stars at the National Sports Stadium before wrapping up their campaign with a game against Chapungu in Gweru.

Highlanders, who traditionally play their home games on Sundays, will host Tsholotsho FC on Saturday at Barbourfields Stadium.

Tsholotsho are involved in a survival fight and it remains to be seen if they can fulfil the adage that says the “last kicks of a dying horse are dangerous”.

For Highlanders, winning this encounter will keep their title hopes alive. Highlanders will then play against FC Platinum at Mandava Stadium in a match that could potentially be a title decider.

Bosso end their season with a home tie against Hwange.

Third-placed FC Platinum, who are on 52 points, face Chapungu on Saturday without the injured duo of midfielders Winston Mhango and Charles Sibanda, who are nursing wounds sustained from a car accident.

Mhango has been a vital cog for the platinum miners who have struggled with their game whenever the defensive midfielder is away, and will certainly be missed in the final games of the season.

As for Sibanda, his grafting as a linkman has seen him play more games even though goals have not come the former Warriors forward’s way.

Without their two senior players, FC Platinum will bank on other players to seize the opportunity and deliver against Chapungu in the Midlands derby.
