NEW DELHI — Indian sanitary ware brand Prayag has bagged the title sponsorship for the upcoming three-match one-day international (ODI) series between India and Zimbabwe that start on July 10 in Harare.

Prayag has collaborated with ITW as its sports marketing partner in this initiative. ITW/Techfront is also the exclusive marketing partner for Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) for this series.

“Cricket is like a religion in India and offers a great platform to connect with millions of cricket lovers in the country. The idea behind any sponsorship is to connect with our customers beyond our product offerings and drive our saliency among them. We’re proud to be associated with ZC and are elated to continue our patronage and support for the game,” said VK Aggarwal, chairman and managing director of Prayag India.

“This tour will be important for the young guns in India. The fight for a place in the full-strength squad will make the series interesting.”

The Indian cricket board recently announced the team for the Zimbabwe tour in which Ajinkya Rahane was named as captain. Veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh is part of the team. Senior players such as Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, R Ashwin and Umesh Yadav have been rested for the series.

Alistair Campbell, director international cricket and operations at Zimbabwe Cricket said: “ZC is pleased to have Prayag as the title sponsor of the ODI series which shall now be referred to as the Prayag Cup 2015. I welcome the Indian cricket team and Prayag to Zimbabwe. We’re confident that our association with ITW will help the brands to get the right impetus and reach. We look forward to some interesting cricket and good competition between the two teams.”

Prayag had earlier associated with Asia Cup as an associate sponsor and with the IPL as an ‘Official Team Partner’ of Kings XI Punjab for the last two years. – Economic Times
