THE Collin Nyabadza Children’s Voice Charitable Trust (CNCVCT) has donated a consignment of over 2,000 library books worth $10,000 to Mguza Adventist Primary School in Bulawayo.

CNCVCT sports development officer Cosmas Zulu said books were an integral part of learning.

“We strongly believe that once these schools are well equipped, poor results would be a thing of the past. We want to provide a favourable environment that would help these children and their teachers come up with good grades,” said Zulu.

To achieve good grades, Zulu said, schools needed to be provided with reading books among other things.

“One of the prerequisites for pupils to achieve good grades is the provision of reading books in schools. In every subject of our school curriculum, a child is required to do a great deal of reading. Without knowing how to read, there is no way a child can successfully answer questions,” he said.

Zulu called on the government to assist non-governmental organisations in the clearing of goods imported from other countries.

“I wish to take this opportunity to request government authorities to work closely with organisations such as ours in helping clear imported goods destined for schools as this is the only way we can ensure that the majority of our rural schools are well equipped.”

The CNCVCT was established in 2012 to help poor rural schools enhance the quality of education by helping them create a conducive teaching and learning environment that would result in competitive grades through the provision of books, sports equipment, computers, sanitary wear and the construction of classrooms and teachers cottages.
