death of journalist Joseph Mandizvidza.
Joseph, a brother to Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation general manager Mr Tarzan Mandizvidza, died last Saturday in an accident along the Harare-Bulawayo highway.

He was an assignments executive at the Voice of Zimbabwe in Gweru. Cde Shamu, who is also Media, Information and Publicity Minister, described the death as “tragic and heartbreaking”.
“The fact that the vehicle he was travelling in overturned after its rear left tyre burst emphasises the need for motorists to always ensure that their vehicles are in good working condition to avoid unnecessary loss of life.

“As you mourn the tragic death of your dear brother, we urge you to always remember that no person is ever truly alone.
“Those who live no more like Joseph, whom you so loved, echo still within your heart, thoughts and words. What he did and who he was should give you strength because your past experiences with him become part of what you are and what you will always be. His living memory will therefore always be a part of you.”

Meanwhile, the Zimbabwe Union of Journalists also sent a condolence message describing Joseph as a promising journalist.
ZUJ secretary-general Mr Foster Dongozi said Joseph would be buried in Gweru this morning.

In a statement, the Zimbabwe Association of Editors also expressed its heartfelt condolence to the Mandizvidza family.
“Mandizvidza, editor with the ZBC Voice of Zimbabwe, was one of the association’s indispensable cadres, who will be missed by all. He will be remembered as an honest, hard working cadre who was always willing to assist others,” read the statement issued by the association’s secretary-general Willie Muponda.
Mourners are gathered at his South View home in Gweru. Joseph is survived by wife Ratidzo and son Tinotenda.
