crowds every Friday and Saturday nights.
The restaurant has turned itself into a hub of entertainment for both “old skool and new skool” music lovers seeking for a night of soothing melodies.
Over the weekend the place was packed with scores of discerning revellers who were dressed to kill to enjoy drinks and music played by some of the hottest disc jockeys in Harare.
The DJs – Storm and Dee Vine – know how to rock their mature crowd with a selection of old and new songs on Friday nights.
Last Friday, as early as 8pm the place was full with revellers mingling with business executives on the dance floor.
And the chaos in the car park tells you how much Hararians enjoy themselves judging from the top-of-the range cars parked outside.
Usually, the night starts with diners being served their favourite menus in the restaurant and then later the hangout is turned into hive of activity with music.
For those who do not want to get inside but just chill outside with friends while listening to their favourite soul, house, kwaito or hip-hop jams.
You really have to be there to see how Harare nightlife is abuzz with excitement.
So popular is the joint for its late 1980s and 1990s music selection that you hardly find the dance floor empty at any given time on Fridays.
“This is the hottest place at the moment. The vibe is good and the people are beautiful,” one fan said.
Another yuppie and music lover, Eric Chikonzero, said while there were other kicking venues in town, Libby’s was his favourite because of its location.
“It is only a few minutes from the city centre and the place offers more than just entertainment,” he said.
Others said Libby’s was becoming a favourite of many since patrons are not asked to pay gate entries.
“You just walk in as there is no entrance fee and you don’t have to worry about getting home smelling of cigarettes,” one patron said.
Efforts to speak to the owner, only identified as Bola, were fruitless on Friday as he was said to be out of town.
However, there were concerns that the hangout needs to open more bars to avoid congestion at the counters.
