FORMER wheelchair national basketball team coach Walter Ndlovu has blasted the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) and Zimbabwe National Paralympic Committee for neglecting people with disabilities in sport.

He said the two organisations were not doing enough to ensure the needs of people with disabilites are catered for.

“We’re not well represented when it comes to sport and the people that are put in positions to make sure that as people living with disabilities we’re represented are just not doing their job,” said Ndlovu.

He said officials spent a lot of money sleeping in expensive hotels and paying themselves handsome allowances yet the people doing the donkey work were living in poverty.

“Those two organisations are the reason why most athletes living with disabilities have left sport to beg on the streets instead of making a living through their God-given talents. Noone enjoys begging for money on the streets,” he said.

Ndlovu appealed to the government to intervene.

“I hope the government will intervene as administrators seem not to be bothered when we raise issues,” he said.
