TWO of the country’s leading radio stations Star FM and ZiFM will be broadcasting live from Bulawayo during the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) which runs from April 28 to May 2.

Zambian president Edgar Lungu will officially open the 56th edition of the annual trade fair running under the theme: “Simulating Trade: Seizing opportunities to accelerate growth”.

StarFM’s DJ Mox and Langa will broadcast the TXO (the Cross Over) from 12noon to 3PM.

ZiFM will have four of its programmes being broadcast live from the fair, starting April 27. The broadcast will kick off with breakfast show – The Ignition hosted by Tonderai ‘TK’ Katsande and Samantha ‘MisRed’ Mussa who will take care of business from 6AM to 10AM. Patience Musa will take over at 10AM when she hosts the Xhale Block up to 2PM. In the afternoon Kimble Rogers will entertain exhibitors at the ZITF with The Rush which will be broadcast from 2PM to 6PM. The popular Platform which has sent tongues wagging, hosted by Ruvheneko Parirenyatwa, will wind up each day with a 7.30PM to 8.30PM broadcast.

ZiFM business development executive Tendai Madondo said a lot was in store for the station’s listeners as a series of parties have been lined up.

“Next week Thursday and Friday, ZiFM dancehall DJs Judgment Yard will be at Horizon Night Club and Club Eden respectively. On Friday there’ll be a ZiFM Party hosted by DJs Kimble Rogers and Gibson Ncube at Horizon Night Club supported by our radio personalities such as Ruvheneko, MisRed and TK,” Madondo said.

She said they were broadcasting outside Harare to reach out to their listeners in other parts of the country.

“We’re looking to expand and reach out to our listeners that are outside the capital city. This will also be an opportune time for us to get feedback from our listeners and business people there,” she said.

Star FM public relations and communications manager Beatrice Tonhodzayi-Ngondo said their station, which recently broadcast live in Bulawayo, was continuing with their drive of taking radio to the people. “Bulawayo is very strategic and as we’re entertaining we’re also looking for business opportunities at the ZITF. Broadcasting live from Bulawayo is a continuation of bringing radio to the people that we started this year,” said Tonhodzayi.

She said broadcasting outside Harare was also an opportunity for their presenters to build their brands as their followers will get to meet them in person.
