Starbrite which helps to nurture musicians, poets and stand-up comedians will start scouting for talent today in Marondera. From there, the Starbrite team will travel to Nyanga, Mutare, Masvingo, Chegutu, Kadoma, Kwekwe and Gweru. Bulawayo auditions will be held at the Rainbow Hotel on July 20 and 21 before being conducted in Hwange and Victoria Falls.

Show producer and director, Barney Mpariwa urged aspiring stars to register to be part of the show which has churned out polished artistes who include Kireni Zulu, Prudence Katomeni-Mbofana, Chidarikire and Mateo Potatoe.

“The Starbrite season has already begun with auditions commencing this week. We’re promising an even bigger and better season and aspiring stars are encouraged to register now before the closing date,” Mpariwa said.

After incorporating male inmates from Chikurubi Maximum Prison at last year’s contest, organisers of the talent search have decided to include female inmates at this year’s edition.

Those who will be shortlisted from the auditions will be invited for boot camp where they will be trained. They will be evicted periodically from camp ahead of the finals which have been slated for Harare.

Last year’s competition was won by Harare’s Blessing Chigwedera. For his efforts, he was presented with a residential stand and $40,000, among other prizes.
