Busia – A suspected thief shocked residents of Busia town near the Kenya-Uganda border after a television set he had stolen from an Ugandan businessman got stuck on his head for over four hours.

The suspect was said to be a notorious thief who had been terrorising area residents, until the spell of a witch-doctor fell on him on Wednesday morning.

It was alleged that the man, who hailed from Kaliwa village in Teso district in Busia Kenya, crossed over to Uganda three days ago where he made off with the TV set and other electronic goods. Charles Ogutu, the owner of the TV, said he resorted to the witchdoctor’s charm as he had lost many items to theft.

“He (the witchdoctor) gave me a timeline of 24 hours, saying we would catch the thief by Wednesday morning. True to his word, we caught him this (Wednesday) morning,” Ogutu told KTN.

Duncan Omoding, the witchdoctor from Teso district, had to perform rituals and apply charms to the man to save his life. This was not the first such incident to be reported in the east African country.

Last year, two suspected cattle thieves from Molo town in Nakuru County shocked many after they started eating grass and demonstrating how they performed raids.

This was after taking a witchdoctor’s concoction, Citizen TV reported. – AFP
