NEWLY promoted Zifa Southern Region Division One club Talen Vision’s coach Saul Ndlovu has slammed his players for performing below acceptable standards during the team’s ongoing trials.

Talen Vision won the Zifa Bulawayo Division Two league in 2015 to gain promotion into Division One after just a season in the second tier competition.

Ndlovu felt his side was not yet ready for the gruelling Division One league, saying they have to intensify their preparations if they want to avoid a quick return to the provincial league of Division Two football.

“We’re now in the fourth week of training, but so far the boys haven’t met the standards that we have set for them. We are ending our trials this Friday and hopefully the boys we settle for will shape up in time for the beginning of the season.

“We’re planning to survive relegation in our first season in Division One and for that to happen, we have to up our standards,” said Ndlovu.

Talen Vision thumped Division Three side Arenel 3-0 and 4-1 in friendlies played at Mpumelelo ground at the weekend, but Ndlovu said the results do not reflect the quality he is looking for.

“The friendly matches were a trial for us. We were trying to get perfect combinations and new players. At this point we’re not concerned much about winning, but we want good combinations that will bear good results for us,” Ndlovu said.
