TWO children, aged 12 and seven have reportedly dropped out of school because their father, a teacher at Plumtree High, abandoned them and their mother for a “small house.” Ngoneni Moyo, 45, has permanently left his wife of 12 years, Sikhulunyiwe Dube, 35, for a female colleague at Plumtree High School.

Dube now wants her estranged husband to pay for the upkeep of their two children.
“He has been avoiding me and I discovered that he is in love with a fellow teacher at his school and has impregnated her,” Dube said.

“He once taught at Mambale and transferred to Plumtree in 2012 but abandoned me and the children. The children are no longer going to school because he doesn’t want to pay their fees.”

Dube claims her husband, a Mathematics teacher, and Thandanani Nyathi had been seeing each other under her nose for a long time.
Moyo hit back telling the court his wife abandoned him instead, and left the children in the custody of their grandmother in Zamadube area under Chief Bidi in Kezi  District.

He claimed the children were attending a rural school in Kezi.
Dube was granted custody of the children at the Juvenile’s Court on January 15, this year as the couple’s domestic fight turned nasty.

While she claimed Moyo had stopped coming to their Cowdray Park home, the husband professed ignorance about the house before Magistrate Victor Mpofu.

Dube was demanding $280 per month for the two minor children but Moyo challenged the amount, saying his wife was a “pretender” who did not deserve any money.

“I never abandoned my family. Why would she want $280 when she is not staying with the children? She has abandoned the children on three occasions and she now stays in Cowdray Park and I have never been to the house,” Moyo blasted.

He added: “My net salary is $300 and if I give her $280 I would remain with $20 only. I sent her for training in interior décor but she abandoned it.”

Magistrate Mpofu, however, granted Dube $70 per month for the upkeep of the children, which Moyo must pay starting end of this month.
