Mr Kwashira was trying to restrain his junior from assaulting his wife during a domestic dispute.

The teacher, Mr Bernard Solo was later arrested and paid an admission of guilt fine at Gweru Rural Police Station for allegedly head-butting his boss.

Police at Gweru Rural Police Station yesterday confirmed the incident, which occurred on Sunday night.

“It was a simple assault and the concerned teacher has since been released after paying an admission of guilt fine,” said a police officer at the station.

A source privy to the incident said Mr Solo who stays next to the headmaster within the school’s staff houses beat up his wife and the commotion attracted the attention of Mr Kwashira.

The source said there was bad blood between Mr Kwashira and Mr Solo.

“The two normally square off even on simple issues during school meetings. Mr Solo is also suspecting that the head is proposing love to his wife and his beating of the wife on Sunday night was deliberate,” said the source.

The source said when Mr Solo gave his wife a thorough hiding on Sunday night, Mr Kwashira went to investigate when he heard her screaming.

The source said when Mr Kwashira tried to restrain Mr Solo he head-butted him.

“The headmaster was left bleeding from the mouth and the matter was later reported to the police leading to Solo’s arrested on Monday morning,” said the source.

Mr Kwashira declined to comment.

The School Development Committee chairperson who is also the national secretary general of war veterans association, Cde Shadreck Makombe, confirmed the incident.

He condemned the violent behaviour by teachers at the school.

“I received information to that effect but I am yet to get in touch with the headmaster to get full details of the matter. As parents we do not condone such           violent behaviour especially from teachers whom we believe are professionals. It’s not the first time that Nkululeko teachers have been involved in assault incidents.

“Last year three of them appeared in court after they assaulted the former school head who is now deceased over incentives. This is not good for our school,” he said.

Last month, three teachers at Nkululeko High were arrested after they assaulted a parent when he tried to block a school prize giving day ceremony.

The parent had jumped on the stage and grabbed the microphone from the master of ceremony protesting against the school authorities’ failure to present the end of year financial report.
