AN 18-year-old Tsholotsho teenager is on the run after allegedly fatally stabbing a 16-year-old boy in a suspected love wrangle on Boxing Day.
There are fears that Geoffrey Ndlovu, who was notorious for bullying other children in Dombo area near Tsholotsho business centre,  could have committed suicide.

His friend, Isaiah Tshuma, who was at the scene when the stabbing happened, has been picked up by police to assist them with investigations.

Kraal head Mbenje Sibanda said Ndlovu’s   victim Mncedisi Malaba was known as a  quiet boy.

He said the fatal stabbing  took place on December 26, around 6PM.

He said the suspected murderer lived with his grandparents and was known for disrespecting elders and disobeying orders.

“This is where the boy was murdered,” said a visibly angry Sibanda as he pointed to the spot where the lifeless body of Malaba was found.

Sibanda said there were fears that Ndlovu could have killed himself after the alleged murder.

He said Ndlovu’s friend, Tshuma, was arrested by the police after the matter was reported.

“I understand that one of the boys is in police custody. We’ll only get to know   what really happened when he appears in court,” he said.

The kraal head bemoaned the fact that the youths in his area had lost respect for elders.

He said the youths were always loitering in  groups planning bad things, adding that he was puzzled why a teenager would go around carrying a knife.

“I think it’s high time we get back to basics with these children of today.  They’ve lost respect for their leaders, they don’t listen, they’re always on the road and it’s very bad. We want a society with children who respect their elders,” he said.

Tshuma’s sister, Sithabile, said she was shocked to learn that her brother had been arrested in connection with the alleged murder.

She said their parents were in South Africa.

“We stay alone with Isaiah, our parents are in South Africa and yes he was arrested after the murder of Mncedisi,” said Sithabile.

She said she didn’t know what caused the fight that led to Mncedisi’s murder.

“I just heard that he was with Geoffrey when Mncedisi was stabbed,” said Sithabile.

No comment could be obtained from the police  last night.
