A Form Four pupil at Mosi-oa-Tunya High School in Victoria Falls has been dragged to court for having sexual intercourse with a fellow pupil aged 15 years.

It is alleged that the boy aged 17 years from Chinotimba suburb met the girl sometime in November last year and proposed love to her.

The two started engaging in sexual intercourse until their parents got to know about the affair resulting in them reporting the matter to the police.

It was the girl’s aunt who caught the two young lovebirds red-handed.

The boy was yesterday charged with having sexual intercourse with a minor when he appeared before Victoria Falls resident magistrate Lindiwe Maphosa.

He denied the charges claiming that he didn’t know that the girl was a minor after seeing her date a man older than him.

“When I first saw her she was dating a man who is older than me so I thought she was an adult.

“I loved her at first sight and proposed. After a month of dating I asked to have sexual intercourse with her and she agreed. I had promised her that we would get married after we both finish school,” the boy said.

Takunda Ndovorwi is appearing for the State.
