INTERNET service provider Telecontract (Pvt) Ltd has unveiled plans to expand wireless network connectivity by setting up more WiFi hot spots outside major cities.The young firm which trades as Telco has poured thousands of dollars in setting up internet facilities in Bulawayo, Harare, Mutare and recently it has started operating in the resort town of Victoria Falls.

Ben Mugadza, Telco’s Midlands and Matabeleland regional head, said the company was geared to tap opportunities in new markets and increase internet connectivity.

“We hope to have covered most of the country by the second quarter of this year, particularly blanketing the whole of Victoria Falls. So far we’ve invested at least more than $20,000 for our projects in Bulawayo, Harare and Victoria Falls. In developed countries people don’t necessarily have to use internet from their mobile phones or dongles but have WiFi hot spots, which are readily and easily accessible to them. We as Telco have a mandate, capacity and capability to provide a wide range of internet-based communications solutions for voice, data and video services.”

Mugadza said his company provided a wide range of innovative products and services designed to suit customer needs and convenience.

“We’ve internet access at special rates and are accessible through purchasing special recharge cards, which range from a dollar depending on how much data usage you want to use.

“We’re also capable of providing services for bigger business and corporate users. Telco also offers data VPNs (Virtual Private Networks), VLANs (Virtual Local Area Networks) and POS (Point of Sale) applications to the banking, retail sectors and corporates,” he said.

“This service allows customers to create or extend their local area network to multiple branches for the sharing of data, voice and video between different geographical locations.”

Telco firm provides internet access at data rates from 64kbps up to 1Meg for any client in the country who needs to keep connected for basic web browsing.
