TELECOMMUNICATIONS operator, Telecel Zimbabwe, has partnered Zimnat Lion to offer a new product in the form of insurance cover to its subscribers.Telecel head of marketing Clever Isaya said Telecare was launched last week and provides three different insurance plans.

“Life today is full of uncertainties and Telecare insurance offers financial cover against unforeseen events. Telecare has the potential to change people’s lives greatly as a lot of Zimbabweans don’t have insurance due to high costs of most insurance services in the market,” said Isaya.

He said Telecel’s partnership with Zimnat Lion was aimed at ensuring reduced cost of insurance to ordinary people. “Under the partnership, Telecel will provide the mobile platform for its subscribers to access the service while Zimnat will underwrite and administer the full service,” he said.

“Our affordable tariffs will ensure our customers have access to hassle free insurance all from the convenience of their mobile phone.” Isaya said subscribers would pay as little as $0,45 per month with users entitled to benefits of a minimum of $250. He said a funeral cover of up to $5,000 was set for local travel and $20 per day via hospital cash back for 30 days.

Isaya said Zimnat Lion would settle all the claims as its co-partner in the endeavour. “All claims will be settled through Zimnat but subscribers are able to submit their claims at any Telecel office for onward transmission to Zimnat,” he said. Isaya also said plans were under way to increase    the range of complimentary insurance services once the first phase has been successfully rolled out.

Telecel has been aggressively launching innovative services to improve product portfolio and overall competitiveness. Telecare follows recent launching of Tele-cash debit gold card and another partnership with Mukuru.Com tapping on Diaspora remittances.
