TelOne recently donated an iMac Desktop  computer and 10 HP computers to President  Mugabe during the official opening of Murombedzi Information Community Centre as part of its contribution to the President’s Schools Computerisation Programme.Speaking after the handover, the President said:

“We have been moving around various rural schools, and have donated a minimum of 10 computers per every school and we are still inspired by the need to bring the technology to all corners of the nation”, he added.

“These community information centres are meant to be one stop ICT shops, to provide services for the community including communication services online, printing, laminating, scanning services and many more,” he said.

TelOne managing director Chipo Mtasa said that she was pleased to partner with the President’s Computerisation drive which is benefiting many rural communities and ushering them into the digital era and getting access to the World Wide Web.

The 27 inch iMac is the latest version of the apple based desktop computer, a state-of-the-art hardware accelerated computer powered with both visual and processor good enough for a design studio, production house, or science lab.

Its specifications include a 3.4GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5 processor LED-backlit display (2560 by 1440 pixels) 8GB (two 4GB) of 1600 MHz DDR3 memory 1TB hard drive NVIDIA GeForce GTX 755M graphics  4 USB 3.0 ports and 1 SDXC Card slot.

The model iMac is amazingly thin, yet it offers fourth-generation Intel Core processors, incredible graphics, the advanced Fusion Drive, flash storage options, and ultrafast 802.11ac WiFi.

On design, apple have successfully managed to create a modern design image with an optical  illusion  that with the iMac’s razor-thin edge and bulging centre, it actually looks as slim as an iPad.

The computer like any other apple based product will be running on their latest software the OS X Mountain Lion powered with Intel Iris Pro, Face Time HD Camera.

The Murombedzi community information centre was born out of a vision that was crafted by Zimpost and the Ministry of ICT.

A total 27 desktop computers were installed at the centre where they are expected to serve members of the community with various  services and keep them in the technological  loop.

TelOne has also introduced broadband through  Ka Band VSAT which is being used at the Murombedzi community centre as the backbone for internet connectivity, the only ideal Internet connectivity for remote areas where infrastructure is not yet available.
