In a speech read on his behalf by his company’s Matabeleland regional sales representative Mr Clemence Makondo, NetOne managing director Mr Reward Kangai said the award was meant to honour  pupils who were saving lives by donating blood.

“You have demonstrated as a school that you care for people’s lives by donating the highest number of units in the Matabeleland South province,” he said.

In an interview at the sidelines of the event school principal, Reverend Stuart Chibuda said the school was excited by winning the award.
“We are so excited for winning this award. This accolade will go a long way in inspiring pupils to donate more blood,” said Rev Chibuda.

Bulilima district education officer, Mr Danisa Nkomo on behalf of Matabeleland South Provincial Education Officer, Mrs Tumisang Thabela praised Thekwane administration for educating their pupils on the importance of donating blood.

“Recipients of the blood you donated include victims of road traffic accidents, pregnant women and others suffering from different ailments,” said Mr Nkomo.

It is reported that youths contribute more than 70 percent of the blood and 40 percent of this blood is consumed by mothers who experience complications during child birth. Blood bank stocks nationally have increased by seven percent.
