THANDO Arts Production will today host the Ithemba Schools Arts Festival at three venues, Homestead Conference Centre, Luveve Youth Centre and Nkulumane Anglican Church grounds at Sekusile in Nkulumane. The mobile decentralised outreach – a curricular-based cross arts and cultural edutainment, exchange and mentorship project is dedicated to both primary and secondary schools in the Bulawayo province.

Project director, Lovemore Gumede said the project was meant for all interested learners who want to venture in any form of art. The festival which will run concurrently at all venues is set to begin at 11AM, ending at 5PM.

“Ithemba Schools project is meant for all interested learners who want to venture in any art form of their choice, be it performing or visual art including music, dance, theatre and drawing,” Gumede said.

He said all students from the city were invited to attend the festival where uniformed primary school students will be expected to part with 50 cents while those not in uniform will be charged $1 to be part of the project.

For secondary school students, those in uniform will pay $1 while those not in uniform will pay $2. Parents interested to attend will pay $1.

Gumede said a competition will be held at the end of next term where the students will be offered an opportunity to express themselves artistically.

“We have branded the Zimbabwean schools closing day to be the day of ‘Hope’ on which young people will be presented with a conducive platform to experiment with new concepts, exchange knowledge, skills and technology,” said Gumede. —@Kiyaz_Cool
